When it comes to daily essentials for owning a Siberian Husky, their health and safety is on the top of my mind. Here's our list:
Paw wipes - The streets of NY are not the cleanest. We use these wipes every time Gatsby steps his paws into the apartment. We love these wipes because they are hypoallergenic, free of parabens, alcohol, and harsh chemicals. They contain aloe to moisturize his toe beans and they are bamboo-based made from 100% renewable resources. They are earth friendly!
Dog Seat Belt - This seat belt is clipped onto the back of Gatsby's harness every time we hit the road! This prevents him from distracting us while driving and that saves both our lives!
Harness - Siberian Huskies loves to pull in general and Gatsby loves to chase at squirrels. All dogs do! This harness provides him support while preventing me from pulling on his throat when he decides to bolt at a squirrel I didn't see.
Bungee Leash - This is a must-have! The bungee absorbs the shock when the dog bolts. It's basically a cushion from any sudden moves made by you or your dog. Less tension on the leash has made our walks much more enjoyable.
Toothbrush & Toothpaste - Did you know.....According to the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC), by three years of age, most dogs and cats have some evidence of periodontal disease? We can prevent this! If you brush your own teeth every night, why shouldn't you brush your dog's teeth? BRUSH YOUR DOG'S TEETH! It will save you so much money in the long run.
Brush - Gatsby is double coated. We brush him every night to remove the loose undercoat hair.
GPS Tracker - The Whistle 3 is basically a GPS tracker for your pup. Siberian Huskies are known to be escape artists so this is a must-have. The device and subscription service allows you to track the location of your pup on your phone and it also works like a FitBit so you can see if they are getting enough exercise. Whether it's hiking in the woods, roaming on sandy beaches, or strolling through the streets of New York City, Gatsby will always wear The Whistle 3.
Dyson - The amount of fur a Siberian Husky shed is INSANE. They blow their coats twice a year and shed EVERY SINGLE DAY. We also have four cats and they also shed like crazy. We vacuum every morning and night. This vacuum is great because it's light and powerful enough to suck in all the fur and dust in our apartment.
In case you are wondering why poop bags didn't make it to this list, c'mon man! All of you dog parents should be using poop bags. And if you aren't, that means you are not picking up their poop - SHAME ON YOU!!!
